SUMMARY:GlobalPovertyDiscussion
DESCRIPTION:The Borgen Project\, an international advocacy and lobbying organisation fighting to end global poverty\, is hosting an information event at Exeter Library. George\, a political affairs team member with The Borgen Project\, and a student at the University of Exeter will be hosting the event – he is very keen to talk to people in Exeter about this issue!\nDuring the event\, George will be leading discussions on the following topics:\n–	Official Development Assistance (ODA) and Foreign Aid.\n–	The current state of extreme poverty in the world.\n–	The strategies the Borgen Project uses to raise awareness about this issue.\n–	The strategies the Borgen Project uses to make progress on this issue.\n–	Advocacy work.\n–	Lobbying Parliament.\n–	Why people in Exeter should care about helping the world’s poor.\n–	How people in Exeter can get involved with the Borgen Project’s work and how people can get involved in and around Exeter with this issue.\n–	Mobilisation.\n–	Steve Race (Exeter’s MP) views on ODA.\n–	The history of the Borgen Project and the success they have had\, including the millions of people around the world who have positively benefitted as a result of the Borgen Project success in passing life-changing legislation.\n–	George’s role as a member of the political affairs team. \nIf any of the above sounds interesting\, we would strongly recommend that you come along for a chat! In a busy world where there is often lots of issues at home in Britain\, it can be easy sometimes to forget about those less fortunate than us\, who live abroad and in far worse circumstances. The Borgen Project cares about these people\, and if you care too this is a great event to come to.\nGeorge would love to talk to many people and show you how people in Exeter can make a difference in relation to this cause. If you are involved in any community initiatives in and around Exeter – we strongly recommend you to attend! Community initiatives are incredibly powerful in the local community and this is exactly the kind of organisation the Borgen Project looks to work alongside. It is so important to raise awareness about this issue\, this is one of the key aspects of the Borgen Project’s cause. We hope you attend and tell you friends\, family\, and colleagues about our organisation!

SUMMARY:Voidance Q&A Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:Voidance follows Alana Toro in her final assessment to become an ATIC agent. Inside a simulated space station bar\, she must prevent a terrorist attack before it happens. Each failed attempt allows her to restart the scenario\, but with limited chances to get it right. \nAs Alana navigates a cast of guarded and unpredictable patrons\, gaining trust proves as difficult as identifying the threat itself. With each attempt\, new details emerge and assumptions shift\, forcing her to rethink who she can rely on. As the pressure builds\, Alana is pushed towards an unorthodox solution\, one that may challenge everything ATIC expects of her. \nFilm networking event followed by screening of Marianna Dean’s sci-fi thriller Voidance starring James Cosmo PLUS a Q&A featuring local filmmaker Mark Hampton in conversation with Voidance lead actor and producer Zoe Cunningham.

SUMMARY:English Music Festival 2026
DESCRIPTION:At: Dartington Hall\, Totnes\, Devon\, TQ9 6EL \nAfter nineteen years\, The English Music Festival (EMF) is embarking on an exciting new chapter as it prepares to delight audiences in the spectacular setting of Dartington Hall in Devon. Over four days\, from 22nd to 25th May\, world-class musicians will present masterpieces of English music in the beautiful Great Hall in a programme that promises to intrigue. \nThe EMF champions the brilliance\, beauty and rich heritage of English music\, with a particular focus on the Golden Renaissance (C19 – C20). Through its twenty years the EMF has staged world premieres by composers such as Elgar\, Delius\, Holst and Vaughan Williams\, as well as commissioning new works. \nMoving to Dartington Hall\, the EMF brings its mission to a wider audience. The fourteenth-century medieval estate provides a unique experience in an intimate\, historic atmosphere that audiences and artists value highly. For much of the twentieth century\, Dartington was a hub of musical and cultural activity\, and the EMF is delighted to be playing a part in renewing this tradition.
