Bridgewater St Matthew’s Fair and West Street Market 2025

Each September, Bridgwater hosts its historic outdoor travelling funfair and market event at St Matthews Field and West Street, attracting around 40,000 visitors annually. The fair dates back almost 800 years (Charter of King John) and has been held for about 600 years on St Matthews Field. In 2025, it runs from Wednesday 24 September to Saturday 27 September, with the funfair opening daily from mid-morning to 11pm (later on Friday), and the market on West Street and Fairfield running Wednesday through Saturday each day from around 10am until late evening. The event includes rides, games, food stalls, and a wide variety of market goods — from clothing, pottery, plants, to culinary treats. Road closures, parking restrictions, and temporary toilets are in place.
