Tavistock Goose Fair 2025

The Tavistock Goose Fair, held every year on the second Wednesday of October, is one of Devon’s oldest and most colourful traditions, dating back to the 12th century. Originally a Michaelmas market where farmers sold geese for Christmas, today it transforms the historic town into a bustling fairground and marketplace, with hundreds of stalls, local produce, crafts, and family entertainment. Alongside rides and food, the fair’s roots are still honoured with livestock displays and goose-themed menus in local pubs and cafés, making it both a lively day out and a living link to Tavistock’s medieval past.
